Amex Business Cards Now Cover ChatGPT
American Express added up to $300 per calendar year in statement credits for ChatGPT Business to both the Business Platinum and Business Gold cards. The credit covers subscriptions purchased directly from OpenAI. Enrollment required.
ChatGPT Business has a two-seat minimum, so the smallest workspace costs $480 a year on annual billing or $600 a year on monthly billing. The $300 credit covers 62% of the annual plan.
The math
OpenAI cut ChatGPT Business pricing in April 2026. Here's what you pay now with the Amex credit:

Annual billing saves you $120/year before the credit even kicks in. On annual, the credit knocks your two-seat workspace down to $180 per year.
How to get it closer to free
OpenAI and its partners periodically offer 50% off promotions on ChatGPT Business seats. FounderPass, Efficient.app, and others have run deals that make one seat free for months at a time.
Stack one of those with the Amex credit and two seats on annual billing look like this:
- 2 seats at $20/mo = $480/yr
- 50% off one seat = $360/yr
- Minus $300 Amex credit = $60/yr out of pocket, or $5/month
That's $60/year for two seats of ChatGPT Business. If the promo covers both seats, the credit pays the full tab.

The credit is the same $300 a year on both cards. If you carry both, only one card can earn the credit per OpenAI account.
How to activate
- Log into your Amex Business account and enroll in the ChatGPT benefit
- Sign up for ChatGPT Business at chatgpt.com/business with at least two seats
- Pay with your enrolled Amex card
- The credit posts automatically within a few days of each charge
The credit triggers on charges from OpenAI directly. Purchases through the App Store, Google Play, or third-party resellers will not count.
What you get with ChatGPT Business
ChatGPT Business includes everything in ChatGPT Plus: GPT-4o, image generation, Advanced Data Analysis, custom GPTs, and web browsing. On top of that, you get:
- Admin console with user management
- SSO and domain verification
- A privacy guarantee that your conversations and files are never used to train OpenAI models
- Higher usage limits than Plus
For a two-person team that already pays for ChatGPT Plus ($20/mo each = $40/mo), upgrading to Business costs the same or less after the Amex credit and gives you the admin tools and privacy protections.
